Dean Carruthers
Angelina Lynne is a versatile singer, musician, and educator. As a classically trained soprano, she enjoys singing many genres and frequently performs with harpist, Yu-Fen Liu in Duo Fleur d'Ange http://autourdelile.com/2022/12/le-concert-benefice-du-manoir-mauvide-genest-un-franc-succes/. Ms. Lynne has performed nationally and internationally in various recitals, concerts and festivals with companies that include Festival Gospel de Sherbrooke, Le musée des beaux arts de Québec, Les micros-shows de Beaupré, The Bach-Handel Festival (VA), The Al Ain Music Festival (UAE), Khitāmuhā Misk (UAE), The Barcelona Festival of Song (Spain), Opera Factory (New Zealand), The Halifax Summer Opera Festival, Opera New Brunswick, Classical Singing and New York in June, and The Vancouver International Song Institute. While living in the United Arab Emirates, she was a frequent soloist with the Al Ain Chamber Orchestra and the Garden City Jazz Quintet, working closely with Romanian composer and conductor Dan Turcanu alainmusicfestival.wordpress.com/2015/11/24/angelina-lynne-the-garden-city-jazz-band-to-open-fridays-aamf-jazz-concert/. Angelina is also an accomplished pianist and served on faculty at the American University of Sharjah as Visiting Instructor of Music, teaching piano and voice performance and accompanying the university's women's choir from 2014 to 2017. She has also accompanied and adjudicated musicians at various music festivals including the Dubai Music Competition.
She is the recipient of awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing, artsNB, the Bach-Handel Festival Competition in Virginia, USA and the Canada Research Chair in Music in Community (SSHRC). She is an alumna of the Vancouver International Song Institute, Classical Singing and New York in June and the Barcelona Festival of Song in Spain, a singing program that promotes Latin American and Iberian Vocal Repertoire.
Her affinity for choral music has led her to perform with the acclaimed Hillsborough Girls' Choir and madrigal ensemble under the direction of Ruth Boswell Schiller (Member of the Order of Canada), with whom she was privileged to perform at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney World, and the Canterbury Cathedral in England among others. She is a featured soloist on their album Children of the Tides. She has also performed with Auckland's renowned Musica Sacra and chœur SILOE, a gospel choir in Québec City. As a chorister, she has participated in numerous choral masterclasses, including The King's Singers, Rajaton, Doreen Rao, Bob Chilcott, and Jean Ashworth Bartle.
In 2016-17, Angelina conducted both the SATB choir and women's choir at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) and led the AUS choir to an award winning performance at the 2017 Short + Sweet Voices competition in Dubai. https://www.aus.edu/media/news/aus-choirs-wins-recognition-at-the-short-sweet-voices-festival. In 2020, she founded Les Voizelles of Île d'Orléans, Québec, a choir for women, especially those without formal voice training. Education
Angelina Lynne holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Auckland in New Zealand where she studied under acclaimed soprano, Patricia Wright, and a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University in Canada, where she studied voice performance (Dr. Helen Pridmore, Peter Groom) and piano performance (Dr. David Rogosin, Dr. Stephen Runge). Her studies also include doctoral coursework in voice science, pedagogy and performance from Shenandoah University in Virginia (Dr. David Meyer) and Université Laval in Québec (Jean-François Lapointe), choral conducting from Université de Sherbrooke, QC (Robert Ingari) and a Faculty Teaching Certificate focusing on curriculum creation and student-centred learning from the American University of Sharjah, UAE. Teaching Experience
As a music educator and lifelong learner, Angelina’s passion for music has taken her across the globe. Passing on her love of singing to the next generation is paramount. She has served as artistic director and vocal coach for various children and youth choirs and musical theatre productions in Canada and Belgium and has also worked with children and youth at the Lillian Trasher Orphanage in Egypt, Al MADAR International School in the UAE, Montessori Schools, and secondary school teaching music and singing.
Angelina has presented at national and international conferences such as the International Society for Music Education, Glasgow, Scotland and Brisbane, Australia (online); Asian Conference on Arts and Humanities, Kobe, Japan; International Academic Forum Conference on Education, Dubai, UAE; Council on International Education Exchange, Sharjah, UAE; Association francophone pour le savoir, Québec City, Canada; Podium: Congrès et festival choral/Choral Festival, Toronto, Canada, Le futur du son / Le son du futur, McGill University, Montreal, Canada; the International Society for Gerontechnology, Daegu, South Korea, Dialogues: International Music Research Conference, Université Laval, Québec City. She has been invited to present a roundtable discussion on Arabic Choral Music: Navigating the Challenges and Questions Encountered while Learning and Teaching the Repertoire at the Middle East Studies Association Annual Meeting in Montreal, Canada from November 2-5. Also in November 2023, Angelina has been invited to perform with Duo Fleur d'Ange and give a presentation on the inclusion of inexperienced singers in community music at the inaugural Context Conference hosted at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
Angelina continues to give music workshops, and pursue her interest in cross-cultural vocal techniques and global musics. She also currently maintains an active music studio teaching voice and piano in French and English. Her love of singing is contagious as she encourages people of all ages to use their voices and sing for joy!

Other research interests include active learning techniques, student-centred learning, music technology, women in music, and Arabic choral music. Alongside music, Angelina finds pleasure in writing and studying languages.
